📅 DAY 2 – "Brick by Brick"

Main Goals:

  • Deepen grammar mastery from Lesson 1
  • Drill listening + shadowing to build rhythm
  • Finish katakana cleanup
  • Start writing your first Japanese diary entry
  • Expand vocab + start light kanji practice

🕒 TOTAL STUDY TIME: 4.5–5.5 hours


🧭 PLAN BREAKDOWN

1. 📘 Grammar Consolidation – Minna Lesson 1

Time: 60–75 minutes Materials: Minna Main Book + Grammar Notes

✅ Tasks:

  • Revisit yesterday’s grammar:

    • AはBです
    • AはBじゃありません
    • AはBですか?
  • Focus on pronunciation + intonation

  • Do 書きましょう (writing practice) and 練習 (practice drills) in workbook

  • Write 5 custom sentences using today’s patterns

Action Tip: Make all examples relevant to your life:

  • これはスマホです。
  • あの人はエンジニアですか?
  • いいえ、先生じゃありません。

2. 📱 Vocabulary Expansion (Anki + Speaking Practice)

Time: 45 minutes Materials: Anki N5 Deck, notebook

✅ Tasks:

  • Add new 20–30 words from Lesson 1 (if not added yesterday)
  • Review 50+ cards (repeating out loud)
  • Say 5–10 short sentences using new words
  • Practice noun vocab + counters (like ~人、~歳 if you want bonus)

Bonus: Record yourself reading 10 vocab + 3 self-made sentences


3. 🎧 Listening + Shadowing

Time: 45–60 minutes Materials:

  • Shadowing: Let’s Speak Japanese Vol 1
  • YouTube: Comprehensible Japanese (N5 level)

✅ Tasks:

  • Choose 1–2 short listening clips (around self-intro/greetings)
  • Shadow each sentence 3x (pause, repeat, mimic)
  • Practice Lesson 1 会話 (dialogue) like a roleplay
  • Try recording yourself and comparing with native

✅ Shadowing Tip: If you're struggling, whisper it first, then say it naturally.


4. 🔤 Katakana Review & Drill

Time: 30–45 minutes Materials: Katakana chart, worksheets, or app (KanaTown / Dr. Moku)

✅ Tasks:

  • Do a katakana quiz (write or use app)
  • Practice reading katakana loan words
  • Write katakana for 10+ common Japanese words from anime or tech (テレビ、メール、ゲーム etc.)

✅ Extra: Watch/read product labels and menus in katakana (make a fun game out of it)


5. 🖊 Writing Practice – Diary + Custom Sentences

Time: 30 minutes Materials: Notebook, BunPro, or Google Docs

✅ Tasks:

  • Write your first diary entry in Japanese (3–5 simple sentences)

  • Use today’s grammar:

    • わたしは〇〇です。
    • これは〇〇です。
  • Keep it personal and review it next day

✅ Optional: Post it to HelloTalk and ask for feedback (you’ll learn faster with corrections!)


6. ⛩ Light Kanji Introduction (Optional)

Time: 15–20 minutes Kanji Focus: 一, 二, 三, 人, 日, 月, 名, 先生, 学

✅ Tasks:

  • Learn 5–8 kanji from N5
  • Practice stroke order + readings
  • Use mnemonics (WaniKani, KanjiDamage, or remember with stories)
